• Understand the main structural features and patterns of Chinese financial markets
• Understand the modern history and key reform stages of China’s capital market development
• Recognize institutional differences between Chinese and Western financial systems
Target Participants
30 industry professionals, senior managers, and investment practitioners.
Training Topics (conducted entirely in English)
Part I: China’s Economic Development and Institutional Structure
The first part of the program introduces:
• The economic development trajectory of China
• The transformation of China’s economic structure
• The roles of public and private institutions
• Key economic, social, and political forces shaping China’s development
This section establishes the institutional foundations of China’s system and reviews major reforms over the past decades, enabling participants to understand how economic structure, policy design, and institutional evolution interact.
Part II: China’s Capital Markets – Equity Market and Mutual Fund Industry
The second part focuses on:
• The structure and evolution of China’s equity market
• The development of the mutual fund industry
• Major regulatory and institutional characteristics of China’s capital markets
• Structural features that differentiate Chinese financial markets from Western markets
As the world’s second largest equity market by market capitalization, China has become an increasingly important destination for global institutional capital. Although its markets share certain foundational features with developed markets, they exhibit distinctive characteristics in regulatory structure, investor composition, and pricing dynamics.
Understanding China’s capital markets therefore requires more than technical knowledge; it requires insight into the country’s institutional logic, policy framework, and broader economic and cultural context. Such perspective is critical for informed and strategic engagement with China’s financial markets. Given that Thai institutional and individual investors can access Chinese equities through channels such as QFII and the Shanghai–Hong Kong and Shenzhen–Hong Kong Stock Connect mechanisms, this program will also provide practical insight into how these access routes operate within the broader institutional environment.
